I've yet to find an aftermarket light that puts out more light than this one, but with texting teens and distracted soccer moms, being overly conspicuous is what it's all about.  Installation over the stock tail light reflector can be a little tricky, but this is my second - so it was no issue.  Just take your time.  Not cheap, but you get what you pay for.  In the end (pardon the awful pun), it's well worth the expense.
